MICROTECH make Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM) furnaces can be used for the production of high quality alloys and pure metallic castings for critical aerospace and high technological industrial applications.

In VIM furnace a melting crucible is kept inside a steel shell which is connected to a high speed vacuum system. Furnace’s heart is the crucible with a water cooled inductor and refractory lining. Heating takes place by eddy current that passes through a set of induction coil / inductor. The coil / inductor are made of high purity EC Grade copper tubes, cooled by water flowing through the tubing. When the current passes through the coils, it creates a magnetic field which induces an eddy current in the charge inside the refractory / susceptor which ensures uniform alloying. Once the heating of the charge material reaches to a level that the charge gets all molten, magnetic fields leads to stirring of the liquid charge. Frequency of the induction power supply system used for heating the charge varies with the charge shape, size, and melt status (liquid or solid).

MICROTECH make Vacuum Induction Melting furnace can be manufactured as per user’s requirement. There are three main parts to the Vacuum induction melting system: power supply unit, vacuum unit and chiller. Power supply unit consists of solid state induction heating system with state of the art control circuit. The vacuum system consists of vacuum chamber, pumping systems and a control panel with safety interlocks. Vacuum unit is used along with the rotary and diffusion pumps or turbo molecular pumps with or without Chevron baffle or LN2 tap. A Chiller unit, can be either Air Cooled (AC) or Water Cooled (WC), is used for heat removal from the induction heating system, vacuum chamber and vacuum pumping system.
